Ibadan Archdiocesan Church Warden

The Archdiocese of lbadan Board of Church Warden invested fifty-eight (58) new members across eighteen (18) Parishes within the Archdiocese. This year's investiture is a little different from the previous ones. Over time, it has been noticed the stress Parishes go through to get to the Parish where the investiture will be held and also the state of the country's economy. These two cogent reasons calls for a new approach, to lessen the stress, expenses and to have a central Parish to hold the Investiture.

The approach used this year is going through Deaneries, Deaneries were divided into two, Parishes within first divide of the Deaneries were expected to present their candidates for Investiture. The first batch of investiture saw St. Anne's Ogbere; St. Francis, Sanyo-Soka; Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Lade; St Paul's Omi-Adio; St Peter's, Apata; St. Lawrence, Lasokun; St. Mulumba, Alakia; Mater Dei, Gbopa,;St. Mary, Egbeda; St Brendan, Ikumapayi; St. Joseph's Oke-Ado; Maria Assumpta, Olubadan; St. Michael's, Idi-Ayunre; St. Kizito, Oluyole; St. Cecilia, Ayegbusi; Holy Trinity, Aba Panu; St. Joseph's, Apomo, and C.K.C. Odo-Ona presenting a total of fifty-eight (58) candidates for Investiture on Sunday 18, May 2025 at St. Joseph's Oke-Ado, Ibadan during the 9:30am Mass.

Very Rev. Fr. Christopher Fosudo, the Chief Celebrant at the Mass, from the Congregation of Cordis Mariae Filii (CMF) congratulated the Investees for scaling through till the very end. He appreciated them for their steadfastness, from the first day of their probation to the very day of their investiture. He said, it is good and joyful to serve God, but more joyful if done wholeheartedly.

The Chief Celebrant encouraged the investees not to look at the side effect of officiating at Mass as a Church Warden and see it a cheap means to stop being a Church Warden, rather, they should see it as a big avenue to take a little part in the suffering of our Lord Jesus Christ and be happy afterwards as Peter did when he preached about Christ to the Pharisees. He prayed that the zeal to do God's will and work will continue to burn stronger in them.

The next batch of investiture will hold Sunday 17 August, 2025 at Sacred Heart Ilupeju, Bodija, Ibadan which will involve other Deaneries and Parishes within the area. Congratulations to the newly invested member. May St. Joseph's, our Patron Saint, continue to intercede for us now and always. Amen.
