The faithful of St. Theresa Catholic Church, Ijio Parish, were filled with joy on Wednesday morning as Most Rev. Emmanuel Badejo, the Bishop of Oyo Diocese, paid a pastoral visit to the parish, bringing with him a message of hope, encouragement, and unity.
Shortly after the morning Mass, Bishop Badejo arrived at the parish premises, warmly welcomed by priests and parishioners alike. His presence was described as one of the many blessings of God experienced by the community.
After a brief meeting with the clergy and the people of God, the Bishop proceeded to St. Mary Catholic Church, Ayegun-Wasimi, where he inspected the ongoing construction of a Mission House. In his address, he urged the faithful to support their priests actively and reminded them that the responsibility of completing the project lies with the community. "The house must be put in order, so that the new priest can come and dwell among you," he emphasized.
On his return journey to Ijio, the Bishop made a stop at St. Paul Catholic Church, Samo, where he also interacted briefly with the local congregation. He later retired to St. Theresa Parish, where that same evening he held a special meeting with the elderly members of the Church. The encounter was described by many as heartwarming and uplifting.
The following morning, Thursday, Bishop Badejo celebrated the Solemnity of the Ascension of the Lord at St. Theresa Catholic Church. After the Mass, he continued his pastoral journey to St. Pius Catholic Church, Idiko-Ile, where he was received with great excitement and reverence by the waiting faithful.
The Bishop entered the Church, offered prayers, and addressed the congregation regarding their ongoing Church building project. He reminded them that the success and completion of the work is a collective responsibility, urging unity and commitment. He concluded the visit by offering prayers and blessings to the community.
The entire visitation was spiritually enriching and deeply appreciated by all who were present. The parishioners expressed their gratitude to God for the Bishop’s presence and for the grace-filled moments shared during his time with them.
