Mr. Ikeze Emmanuel of the Legion of Mary has won the Best Participant award at the 2025 May Devotion at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Iganmode Road, Ota, Abeokuta Diocese, Ogun State. He was awarded a medium sized statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary for attending the programme from the beginning to the end and punctual throughout the exercise.
When this reporter asked Mr. Ikezeh the secret behind his impressive performance at the May Devotion, he said that his conviction in the intercessory powers of the Blessed Virgin Mary, encouraged him to attend the programme through and through, adding that he did not attend the occasion for show off as anyone would speculate.
Mr. Ikezeh, who deals in electronics and electrical materials at the Sango Ota Market, said he made it a point of duty to close his shop at 4:30 pm each day of the May Devotion and was able to get to the Church before 5pm, when the programme would start.
While presenting the award to Mr. Ikezeh, the Parish Priest, Very Rev. Fr. Clement Ajibola Ashade commended him for his commitment and assured him that the great reward in honouring the Blessed Virgin Mary will not pass him by.
Rev. Sr. Mary Abodunrin who coordinated the May Devotion testified to Ikezeh’s commitment and encouraged other parishioners to emulate his love for the Blessed Virgin Mary as one can never love Mary too much.
