"In Everything, Give Thanks": A Farewell to Christie Alabi

"In everything we should give thanks to God." This profound message was delivered by Very Rev. Fr. Felix Idowu Ethapami at the funeral Mass for the late Mrs. Christie Alabi, held on Friday, May 30, 2025, at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, Mokola, Ibadan.

Fr. Ethapami underscored the universal truth of mortality, reminding the congregation that "death is a must for all humans." He urged everyone present to be ever-prepared for the unknown hour, emphasizing the importance of spiritual readiness.

The late Mrs. Christie Alabi was remembered as a vibrant and dedicated member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church community. Her active involvement spanned various Church groups, including the Board of Church Wardens, the Catholic Women Organization (CWO), Guild of St. Anthony of Padua, and St. Dominic Society.

Fr. Ethapami acknowledged that "she has finished her work here on earth," and her legacy of "good work and services to the Church" would be her enduring remembrance.

Beyond her Church contributions, Mrs. Alabi was celebrated for her impactful and loving nature. She was described as a person who "devoted her life to the love of God," caring deeply for those around her and valuing family life, especially her children.

In his homily, Fr. Ethapami encouraged the faithful to emulate Mrs. Alabi's exemplary life, particularly in raising their children to love God, assuring they would be cared for in their old age. He specifically called upon Mrs. Alabi's children to "follow the footsteps of their Father and Mother and be  good ambassadors everywhere they found them."

The Mass was well-attended, with Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Eseola and Assistant Parish Priest Rev. Fr. JohnPaul Aniwodo. Also present was Rev. Fr. Bienvenu Lalsaga, MAfr, the Parish Priest of St. Thomas Catholic Church Agbowo. The Parishioners of St Gabriel Mokola, St Thomas Agbowo and members of the Archdiocese Guild of St Anthony were in attendance at the Mass to bid farewell to Late Mrs Christie Alabi.
