Ibadan Archdiocesan Laity Council Meets with the Lay Organizations, Issues Resolutions.

Ibadan Archdiocesan Laity Council held a meeting with Presidents and Secretaries of Lay Organizations on Saturday, 23rd August, 2025 at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, Mokola, Ibadan. The meeting commenced with an opening prayer said by the Archdiocesan Laity Council Chaplain, Very Rev. Fr. Paul Asawale.

 The Archdiocesan Laity Council President, Mr. Felix Oladokun in his welcome address stated that the essence of the meeting is to strengthen collaboration between the Laity Council and Lay Organizations. The Archdiocesan Laity Chaplain, Very Rev. Fr. Paul Asawale in his opening remarks encouraged the Lay Organizations to work collaboratively with the council for the progress of the Church.

That was followed by the introduction of members which was anchored by the Archdiocesan Laity Council General Secretary, Mr. Dominic Aminu-Taiwo. After which there were reports from Lay Organizations based on: the year of tenure of office, achievements, challenges and upcoming events.

The key discussion points at the meeting were: Strengthening collaboration between the Laity Council and Lay Organizations; Fostering communication and dialogue between the leadership of the Laity Council and Lay Organizations; Review and harmonization of the programmes of the Laity Council and Lay Organizations; Promoting active participation and collaboration between the Council and Lay Organizations in Church's activities; Fashioning out modalities for leadership development and engagement between the Council and Lay Organizations; Review of synergies of leadership structures of the council and Lay Organizations in accordance with the extent laws as approved by CSN; Reinforcement of vision, mission of Lay Organizations under the leadership of the Laity Council; Fashioning out modalities for active participation of younger persons in activities of Lay Organizations and promoting mentorship for upcoming members; and Identify and proffering solutions to challenges and set-backs in the participation of Lay Organizations in council's activities.

It was a wonderful experience as forty members including members of the Executive of the Archdiocesan Laity Council with the Chaplain attended the meeting. At the end of the meeting, the following resolutions were issued:To work together as a team for the progress of the Church; To harmonize the programmes of lay organizations with that of Archdiocesan Laity Council so as to avoid clash of programmes; To communicate effectively with one another and have a feedback; To have a mission and vision for our lay organizations; To promote active participation and collaboration between lay organizations and the council in church's activities; To have a well-structured program; To have a committee who will review the programmes of lay organizations; To have a good succession plan; To establish lay organizations at the parish level; To have a leadership training for our young ones; To develop programmes for our young ones by utilizing Information and Communication Technology (ICT); To mentor our youth by setting goals for them; To foster a supporting environment for our mentee to grow; and To harmonize our finances by having a common resources. 

The vote of thanks was given by the Archdiocesan Laity Council Vice-President, Sir Jude Oduah(KSM). The meeting ended with a closing prayer said by Miss Martha Kainjo while the Chaplain gave the blessing. The attendees were given a sumptuous lunch thereafter.
