Historic Inauguration of CYON Oluyole Deanery Executives
Angela SUNDAY
On Sunday, 7th September 2025, twelve members of the Catholic Youth Organization of Nigeria (CYON), Oluyole Deanery, were officially inaugurated as members of the first-ever Executive Council at St. Kizito Catholic Church, Oluyole. This historic event marked a new dawn, as they became the pioneer leaders to steer the affairs of CYON in the newly created deanery.
In his homily during the Mass, Very Rev. Fr. Gregory Oyelami, Vicar General and Dean of Oluyole Deanery, charged the executives and all youths present to draw inspiration from the lives of Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati (24) and Blessed Carlo Acutis (15), both of whom were canonized in Rome on the same day. He urged the youths to use the examples of these saints as a yardstick for living a life of service to the Church and to the wider society.
During the inauguration address, Very Rev. Fr. Oyelami reminded the newly elected executives that true service involves struggles, sacrifice, and steadfastness. He encouraged them to serve wholeheartedly with their lives and talents, emphasizing that the future of CYON Oluyole Deanery now rests on their shoulders.
