Seek to Live Like Jesus
Prince ADEMILUYI
The parish priest of St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Lasokun, Rev. Fr. Peter Ibimiluyi has said that Christians’ hearts are troubled because of the reckless life they live. He said this in his homily on Sunday.
According to him, If we seek heaven always then we must seek to live like Jesus. Fr. Ibimiluyi contended that the faithful no longer worked consciously to make heaven as the consciousness of heaven is fast diminishing. The priest referred to India’s Mahatma Ghandi who said “I love your Christ, but I hate Christians”.
Fr. Ibimiluyi said it was time to seek the Lord in spirit and in truth adding that the spirit of Christianity was not deeply rooted in our souls.
He assured the faithful that they will have testimonies in their lives, if they seek the Lord always, noting that all we see around us is a kind of teaching that is against the mind of God.
The Parish Priest said we must constantly seek the glory of God, the happiness of our neighbour and consciously mourn for our sins.
Meanwhile, the priest during a spiritual program, ‘Walking and working with God’ every first Monday of the month stated that even though God has a loving relationship with Adam and Eve, the disobedience of man brought pain and confusion into the world.
Contending that walking and working with God was not negotiable, the priest said we must maintain a constant and intimate relationship with God.
When we fail to work with God, the priest says our life becomes thin. Fr. Ibimiluyi listed the principles of walking and working with God to include obedience, faith, righteousness and worship, while the fruits of walking and working with God include guidance and worship, peace and inner joy and renewed strength. Others are divine protection, spiritual growth and maturity and freedom from bondage.
