Lent to Lifestyle After Lent: Do Not Lose What You Built
Lilly Path with Ifeoma Odisa UGWU
Hi sister,
Happy Easter.
Lent has come to an end, and if you are anything like me, there is a quiet reflection that follows. A looking back at the days of fasting, the moments of discipline, the intentional prayers, the conscious effort to draw closer to God.
During my own Lenten journey, I found myself more aware. More careful with my time. More intentional about prayer and studying the Word. Even in the little things, there was a consciousness, a desire to align, to do better, to be better.
And now Lent is over.
The real question is, what happens next?
Because it would be such a loss if everything we built during that period slowly fades away. It would be a waste if we return to old habits without even realizing it. Lent was not just a season to endure, it was a season to transform us.
The discipline was not temporary. The alignment was not seasonal. The hunger for God was not meant to expire.
Sister, we must keep it.
There is something powerful about what happens when you give yourself to prayer consistently. You begin to hear God more clearly. Your heart softens. Your decisions become guided, not impulsive.
The same goes for studying the Word. When you sit with Scripture and meditate on it, it begins to shape your thinking. It corrects you, comforts you, and gives you wisdom for life. Joshua 1:8 reminds us that meditating on the Word day and night is what makes our way prosperous and gives us good success.
Quietness too.
In a world that is loud and constantly demanding our attention, learning to be quiet before God is a discipline we cannot afford to lose. Psalm 46:10 says, “Be still, and know that I am God.”
And then there is abstinence.
Many of us gave up things during Lent. For some, it was food. For others, it was social media or unproductive habits. You may have noticed that life became clearer without those things.
So why rush back?
This is not to say you must live in constant denial, but there is wisdom in carrying forward the discipline you built. If something helped your growth, keep it.
Lent has shown you what is possible.
Let us also talk about giving.
Lent often opens our hearts to generosity. Acts 20:35 reminds us that it is more blessed to give than to receive. That posture should not be seasonal.
Sister, growth is not proven in moments of intensity. It is proven in consistency.
Now there is no structure. It is just you and your choices.
This is where it counts.
Our fellowship with God should not reduce after Lent, it should deepen.
So what is my charge to you this week?
If you created a prayer routine, keep it.
If you were studying your Bible more intentionally, continue.
If you embraced quietness, protect it.
If you let go of distractions, be mindful of what you allow back in.
Do not go back to sleep spiritually.
Let this not be the end of something good. Let it be the beginning of something deeper.
Prayer
Dear Lord,
Thank You for bringing me through the Lenten season and for all that You taught me. Help me not to lose the discipline and alignment I built with You. Give me grace to remain consistent in prayer and in Your Word. Strengthen me daily and guide me by Your Spirit. Let my walk with You grow deeper beyond seasons. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
With love,
Your big sister in Christ
