The staff and student of St. Mulumba Catholic College, Ile-Ife, have been ushered into the Third Term 2026 with news of academic excellence. This was the mood, when the news of St Mulumba Catholic College Ile-Ife, Osun state, has once again displayed her greatness in academics and high moral values. This was displayed in her excelling in a well attending and keenly competed Mathematics competition recently organized in Ile-Ife.

According to sources, during and throughout the competition, the students who represented the College, demonstrated high level of emotional alertness and undiluted academic excellence.

The Mathematics competition which has become an annual event was put together by His Imperial Majesty, Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II of Ile-Ife. The Mathematics Competition brought together over 100 secondary schools within and outside Osun state. This extending as far as Ekiti, Lagos, Edo, Ondo, Oyo among others. The well attended competition, saw St. Mulumba Catholic College Ile-Ife clinging the second position overall.

Breaking the news to the staff as well as displaying the prize gift of N500, 000 (five hundred thousand naira), the Principal of the College, Very Rev. Fr. Felix Olaniyan praised the doggedness of the students who represented the school as well as the dedication of the Mathematics teacher, Mr. Kingsley Obah for his time and efforts, which is yielding positive fruits. According to Fr. Olaniyan the teacher and the students have once again displayed in greater height of what Mission Education as championed by the Catholic Church represents.

Fr. Olaniyan particularly praised Mr. Kingsley Obah for his dedication, while at the same time encouraging him to put in more efforts in his work. The Principal also used the opportunity to encourage parents to embrace education as championed by the Church, aimed at producing students who are academically, emotionally and spiritually upright.

The Competition which held between March 23rd and April 18th 2026, was part of the efforts by the Ooni of Ife, Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II, to encourage academic excellence among secondary school students. Apart from prizes won at the end of the competition, scholarship was also offered to deserving students. Thus, apart from the trophy and cash prize won by the school, scholarship was also won by the representative of St. Mulumba Catholic College, Ile-Ife.

In appreciation for the opportunity to participate in the competition, the Head of the Team, Master Gideon Ademiluyi, a Junior Secondary School 3 student, confessed that although the competition was a tough one, it was easy for his team because of the background training they have received from teachers of St. Mulumba Catholic College, Ile-Ife. Gideon Ademiluyi particularly thanked the school for such grooming, encouraging parents to take advantage of the opportunity offered by excellent teaching skills of St. Mulumba Catholic College Ile-Ife by enrolling their children and wards for better education and brighter future.
