ST. FRANCIS CATHOLIC CHURCH CELEBRATES FATHERS’ DAY AT A HIGH LEVEL.
John ESENE
The long-awaited Fathers’ Day Celebration by men of St Francis Catholic Church, Sanyo-Soka, Ibadan took place on May 3, 2026 in a new dimension as they all arrived very early beaming with smile. As the Holy Mass began by 8.30am, some CMO members were seen among the Altar Servers, Choristers and Church wardens. Then, the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Jude Adeyemo welcomed all in attendance and told the Fathers: “Beware of your success!”
After dwelling on the readings of the day, the priest reminded all that God gave men the mandate to procreate; hence He gave them the privilege to be assisted by women. He enjoined all to appreciate fathers who are also expected to provide for their families. He prayed that God grant them the grace to successfully achieve the functions entrusted to them. “If God gives you talents or something to grow, you should manage them well.”
The priest said further, “Review the efforts you have made so far and ensure you maintain the much you have achieved and keep improving on them to avoid failure! You are the head of the family, hence love all and never look down on anyone. The one you are looking down on today may rise tomorrow to change you. You are always the fathers on the throne and the head.” He further encouraged children and mothers to appreciate fathers for the roles God imposed on them and urged them to assist fathers for the good and success of the family.
Engr. Uwaifo Onaho, the CMO President, welcomed all present. While he reminded mothers and children that a father is the head of the family, he also thanked them for their support so far! He asked them to give fathers more support to better each family. He told fathers to take care of themselves as their roles cannot be undermined.
As expected, the CMO organized a reception and had more discussions among themselves. Meanwhile, the well-organized ceremony lasted very long as there was jubilation all through! This further confirmed the President’s claim, “Today’s celebration is at a high level.”
