Festus Olanrewaju ALADEMOMI
The Children's Day celebration at St. Michael Catholic Church, Idi Ayunre was marked with joy, thanksgiving, and exciting activities as children of the parish gathered to celebrate their special day.
The event commenced with the Holy Mass, during which the children actively participated in the liturgy through readings, singing, and other liturgical functioning. In his homily, the parish priest Very. Rev. Fr. Oniseitan Olatunji Matthew encouraged the children to remain faithful to God, obedient to their parents, and reminded them about the 4th commandments which says: Honour your father and your mother. He continued by saying if you honour your parents you will receive three things from God which are; longlive, forgiveness from God and Treasure. He also reminded them that it's not only their parents but they should honour those who are older than them.
After the Mass, there were various activities which included match past, quiz competition, spelling bee, cultural displays, dancing competitions, and fashion Parade. The activities created an atmosphere of excitement and fostered friendship among the children.
Parents, education committees, and parishioners were present to support and encourage the young participants. Special prizes and gifts were presented to outstanding performers in different competitions, bringing smiles to the faces of many children.
During the vote of thanks, Mrs. Esther Anuforo expressed gratitude to God for the success of the celebration and appreciated the efforts of the parish priest, catechists, committees, parents, and sponsors who contributed to making the day memorable.
The King and Queen of St. Michael Parish, Idi Ayunre were decorated by Mrs. Sola Shoyinka.
The celebration concluded with closing prayer by Rev. Sr. Cecilia Onyia HHCJ. The children left the venue happy and inspired, looking forward to greater achievements in the coming year.
