Most Rev. Emmanuel Adetoyese Badejo, Catholic Bishop of the Diocese of Oyo, delivered the homily at a special Midday Mass held at the Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria (CSN), Abuja, as the Administrative Board of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of Nigeria (CBCN) joined staff of the Secretariat and its agencies for worship.

Drawing inspiration from the feast of St. Charles Lwanga and his companions, Bishop Badejo reminded the congregation that just as the human body is made up of many parts with different functions, every member of the Church has a unique and irreplaceable role to play in fulfilling Christ's mission.

He encouraged the Members of Staff to continue working in unity, harmony, and mutual support, stressing that the effectiveness of the Church's mission depends on the collective efforts of all who serve. He further challenged everyone to emulate the courage and commitment of St. Charles Lwanga and his companions, who remained faithful to Christ even in the face of persecution.

The gathering, which also brought together thirteen Archbishops and Bishops including John Cardinal Onaiyekan, marked the first official interaction between the newly constituted CBCN Administrative Board in office since February 2026 and the Members of Staff of the Secretariat.
