Christians have been enjoined not to look down on anyone, no matter what, for God can appear to them in any person and at any place. Rev. Fr Esau Enger, CSJ stated this on Sunday 9th August 2026 during celebration of Holy Mass at St Anne Catholic Church Ogbere, Ibadan.

Commencing his homily, the priest invited all to answer personally, a question he was about to ask: What do we gain in being afraid or what is it that is making you to be afraid that you cannot progress in life?

The priest, who referenced the call of Elijah by God to go up the mountain urged all to distinguish between God’s voice from the voice of the world and that the mountains in question is our hearts and not any physical mountain.

Fr. Enger condemned the attitude of some Christians today who walk up and down seeking God forgetting that God is present in their hearts. Pointing at the Gospel reading where Christ rebuked Peter for his little faith, the homilist urged all to challenge the challenger that is making them to be afraid for Christ has instructed all not to be afraid. The homilist urged              all against taking their problems to their friend, who also has friends in that order, making their issues the talk of the town but rather take any issue they are having to God alone.

“Peter cried out to Jesus, He saved him. Where do you carry your problem to? Why do you believe but have no faith? Call Jesus in your boat. Invite Him but when you have doubt, He will come but not enter.” The Priest said.

The Parish also kick-starts family harvest thanksgiving beginning with the families of Mr & Mrs Emmanuel Tijani, the 2026 Chairman of Harvest Planning Committee, Mr & Mrs Soji Adewuyi and Mr & Mrs Anthony Ademola even as Master Tobiloba Ibimiluyi and Mrs Adeyemo had a special thanksgiving for birthday and 30th remembrance of Pa Adeyemo respectively.
