The maiden edition of Mokola Deanery Laity Council Skills Acquisition Training Programme, tagged “Digital and Beauty Masterclass,” came to a successful close on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, Mokola, Ibadan.

The four-week training programme was organized to empower young people with practical and productive skills that can enhance their self-reliance, promote entrepreneurship, and create opportunities for employment and income generation.

The training focused on six major areas: Website Design and Coding; Graphic Design and AI Automation; Nail Techniques; Makeup Artistry and Gele Tying; and Crochet Bag Production. The various sessions were facilitated by professionals and experienced practitioners who took participants through intensive, practical and interactive learning sessions.

Throughout the programme, participants were exposed to relevant skills, techniques and knowledge designed to equip them for entrepreneurship and enable them to explore opportunities within their chosen areas of interest.

A total of 53 participants took part in the four-week training programme and actively participated in the various practical sessions held at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, Mokola.

The empowerment initiative was organized by the Education Committee of the Mokola Deanery Laity Council, under the leadership of a seasoned educationist, Dr. Mrs. Blessing Ugwu.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, the Deanery President, Mr. Evans Ekeoba, commended the participants for their commitment and active participation throughout the training. He encouraged them to put the knowledge and skills acquired during the programme into practical use, stressing the importance of turning their new skills into sustainable sources of income and opportunities.

Mr. Ekeoba also expressed appreciation to the facilitators for their time, commitment and professional approach in ensuring that the participants gained meaningful and practical knowledge from the training.

At the end of the programme, participating trainees were presented with certificates in recognition of their successful completion of the training. The participants expressed their appreciation to the Mokola Deanery Laity Council for providing the opportunity and promised to put the skills acquired to good use.

The successful completion of the maiden edition marks another significant step by the Mokola Deanery Laity Council towards promoting education, empowerment, entrepreneurship and self-reliance among members of the Catholic community and the wider society.
