A new Laity Council that will serve for a four-year tenure has been inaugurated at St Peter’s Catholic Church, along Iganmode Road, Ota, in the Abeokuta Diocese of Ogun State. The inauguration took place on Sunday, September 13, 2026, during the 6:30 a.m. Mass at the parish.

The new council is headed by the immediate past Chairman of the Catholic Men Organization of Nigeria (CMON) of the parish, Dr. Vincent Eko, with Mr. Dialeme Emmanuel serving as his deputy. Other members of the council are Mr. Ozoemena Edward Romanus, General Secretary; Mr. Onah Emmanuel, Assistant Secretary; Mrs. Joy Okafor, Treasurer; Miss Winifred Achiri, Financial Secretary; Mr. Osagu Vincent, Public Relations Officer; Mrs. Chinyere Victor, Welfare Officer I; Mr. Ogunsawo Michael, Welfare Officer II; Mr. Elom Michael, Provost; Mrs. Onome Ozimi, Auditor; Mr. Oyenekan Stephen, Ex-officio I; and Mr. Yeah Alexander, Ex-officio II.

In his inaugural address, Dr. Eko expressed appreciation to the parish for finding him worthy to lead the Laity Council. He solicited the cooperation and support of parishioners, stressing the importance of their collective efforts in ensuring an effective and successful administration.

 

The Parish Priest, Very Rev. Fr. Clement Ajibola Ashade, who performed the inauguration, congratulated the newly inaugurated officials and prayed that God would grant them the wisdom, strength and charisma required to discharge their responsibilities effectively.
