
CATHOLIC ARCHDIOCESE OF IBADAN, COLLEGE OF NURSING SCIENCES, OLUYORO CELEBRATES HISTORICAL EVENT OF CAPPING AND KNOTTING OF THE TIE.
It was another atmosphere of joy on Saturday 21st September, 2024 as College of Nursing Sciences, Oluyoro, Ibadan welcomed first set of students with Capping and Knotting of the Tie as "Student Nurses"
The Archdiocese of Ibadan under the tutelage of His Grace, Most Rev. Dr. Gabriel 'Leke Abegunrin, the Metropolitan Archbishop of Ibadan recorded a huge success, as the college celebrated first of its kind Capping and knotting of the Tie together with the Maiden Harvest of Thanksgiving Mass.
The ceremony which was well attended with many dignitaries started with opening Mass with the Archbishop, Most Rev. Dr. Gabriel 'Leke Abegunrin as the Chief Celebrant with the Health Coordinator Rev. Fr. Patrick Olu Odediran and Rev. Fr. Henry Molade as Co -celebrants.
In his Homily, His Grace, Most Rev. Dr. 'Leke Abegunrin expressed gratitude to Almighty God for His blessing in all ramifications to bring the school back and better than when it was formerly addressed as School of Midwifery.
He thanked the Rev. Sisters who have worked relentlessly in achieving good names for the institution in the past.
Still in His homily, the Archbishop congratulated the Board of the College for the work well done as he welcomed the DNS of Oyo State, in person of Dr. (Mrs) Omokehinde A. Oyebode who also represented the Commissioner for Health, Oyo State.
His Grace, Most Rev. Dr. 'Leke Abegunrin concluded his homily by thanking the Health Coordinator, Rev. Fr. Patrick. Olu Odediran and the Provost Dr. Modupeola Oyesiji for good structure currently working on in the College.
He admonished all the students to appreciate the opportunity to develop our country Nigeria as they are on the right track to successful career and appreciated parents for supporting their children in choosing a lucrative profession.
During the Capping and Knotting of the Tie ceremony, the DNS of Oyo State, Dr (Mrs) Oyebode thanked His Grace, Most Rev. Dr. 'Leke Abegunrin for bringing the school back in a professional standard and encouraged the students to defend Nursing Profession anywhere they find themselves.
Marking the glorious event was a lecture delivered by Dr. (Mrs) Toyin Aniagwu, on historical overview of Nursing Profession across the globe and the expectations and principles guiding Nursing profession.
Among the dignitaries that graced the occasion were His Grace, Most Rev. Dr. 'Leke Abegunrin, DNS of Oyo State, Dr (Mrs) Oyebode, The Archdiocesan Health Coordinator Rev. Fr. Patrick Olu Odediran, The College Provost, Dr. Modupeola Oyesiji, the College Registrar, Mrs Fisayo Aladesiun and Rev. Sr. Winifred Amaka Diagboya, OLA Catholic Hospital Administrator, among others.
The five best Students in the first semester examination were recognized during the event while the Matriculation Oath was taken by the Student Nurses.
In her closing remarks the College Provost, Dr. Modupeola Oyesiji thanked all the dignitaries in attendance and promised unrelenting efforts to support the College at the highest capacity.
