CWO Yemetu celebrates Mothers' Day

Members of the Catholic Women Organization, St Michael Catholic Church, Yemetu, Ibadan have been admonished to be spiritual mothers.

The Parish Priest, St. Michael Catholic Church, Yemetu, Ibadan, Rev. Fr. Charles Onyema made this admonition in his homily at the celebration of Mothers' day on Sunday, 30th March, 2025. “Be Spiritual Mothers who teach our Children Christian values and bring them up in the way of the Lord, as Catholics.”  While commending the Women, the priest said that, to raise a child is not easy, it is by the grace of God. He then urged the mothers not to get tired. Let us raise Catholics, those who will continue to uphold the faith. The priest reiterated.

In conclusion, he prayed that God will bestow on them all that they need to cater for their children and that all their efforts will not be in vain. May they live long to enjoy the fruits of their Labour.

The AlCWO President, Lady C.Y. Oke in her address, encouraged the women to be steadfast in faith.

Speaking on the theme for this year's Mothers' Day: "A Hopeful woman walks and works by Faith" (Hebrews 11:1-6). Lady C.Y. Oke said that, it is a reminder for us mothers, we are called to live with an unwavering faith, trusting in God's promises even when the path ahead seems uncertain. She added that our faith is not passive, it moves us into action to serve and to love in tangible ways. The AlCWO President also stated that "Mother Mary" is our mentor and prayed that may God grant us the strength to follow Jesus just as Mary did.

She also appreciated every mother, grandmother and mother figure for their sacrifices and prayers.  She prayed that God bless their efforts and use them as vessels of His love and hope. While addressing the men, she enjoined them to always support their wives. She equally prayed that this celebration renew their strength and fill their hearts with joy.

The event also featured the decorating of some parishioners, cutting of cake. Group photographs were also taken after Mass and there was a light refreshment.
