MAY OUR RISEN JESUS BRING US PEACE AND UNITY!
The British amalgamation of North and South Protectorate of 1914 brought about ethnicity contest or division, which politicians have been using as weapon to divide and rule this Nation for their personal gain. Is Nigeria truly one? Anonymous said recently, “Now in this Country, a South-South person with gun is a militant, an Igbo person with gun is an IPOB terrorist, a Yoruba person with gun is a Yoruba Nation terrorist, a Fulani with gun is a herder while an Hausa person with gun is hunter. As you can see from this basic observation, One Nigeria is an elaborate scam.”
Governor Aminu Masari of Katsina State said on July 19, 2022, “Security Officials and we the Government are who the people rely on to protect them and we have failed in doing so.” Today, many hunters are armed with automatic rifles. Herders once known only with their walking sticks and herding tools, now brandish AK-47s as they move across communities. Government’s silence in the face of repeated arms display by non-state actors is a complicity. Why should those outside the law be more armed than those tasked with enforcing it? A true leader is not afraid to take up responsibilities for his actions and he is often willing to make sacrifices.
Corruption has permeated the nooks and craning of our society to the extent that most people at all levels seem to accept it as a way of life! Hence, people now believe that the Giant of Africa has become the Giant of Corruption. Insecurity in Nigeria has become a daily occurrence: Both the poor and the rich are no longer safe! Our Government spent trillions of dollars to procure arms for our safety, yet, we are not safe.
We have sinned as a nation, we have sinned as individuals. What has been happening in Nigeria indicates that we have failed as a nation. Let’s be remorseful for our evil deeds to attract the mercy and compassion of God that He may restore us back to His Love. “I will restore to you the years which the swarming locust has eaten, the hopper, the destroyer, and the cutter, my great army, which I sent among you.” Joel 2:25.
“O Lord, you once favored your land and revived the fortunes of Jacob; you forgave the guilt of your people and covered all their sins. You averted all your rage; you calm the heat of your anger. Revive us now, God, our helper! Put an end to your grievance against us” Ps.85:1-4.
We cannot change Nigeria for good without God. So, let us approach Him through humility, sing regular praises to Him and being steadfast in our tribulations. As Christians, let us live by example and by what we preach. Asking is the beginning of recovery. Let us weep and cry sincerely as the oppressed children of a nation hijacked by wicked money mongers who have no value for lives. “O Lord, how long shall the wicked exults? They crush your people, O Lord, they oppressed your inheritance. They murdered the widow and the helpless hunger protesters without remorse. ‘The Lord does not see’ they say, ‘the God of Jacob does not care.’ Ps 94:3, 5-7.
Right now, God is in our midst to save us and change Nigeria for good but we have to make a way for Him to transform our rulers to leaders. The Lord said in Isaiah 41:10 “Have no fear for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will give you strength, and bring you help. I will uphold you with my right hand of justice.” God who set the Israelites free from Egypt and made them to cross the Red Sea on a dried land can set us free from selfish politicians, now! So, let us put our trust in Him for He has not changed.
In May 2010, Ezekiel Kolawole said, “The road to success is never straight or easy. On it is a curve called failure, some bumps called friends, red lights called enemies, and caution signs called parents! But if you have a spare tire called determination, an engine called perseverance, a driver called Jesus Christ plus a book called the Bible, you will make it to a place called success. Remember ‘the distance you are destined to cover will determine the fierceness of the opposition.’ If you are not tired of the old, you cannot experience the new”
Christ coming changed our darkness to light, our mourning into dancing, and gave us the privilege to call His Father, our Father. When God gives you the grace to see yourself as you really are, you will have the opportunity to change for good. So, let us reflect on your past and beg for the grace to see our deficiencies to enable us long for salvation for keep, like Zacchaeus
Jesus needs to be born in us to reconcile us with the Father and to reconcile us with one another and end killing, raping, kidnapping and so on. The feast of Easter is not for a day or a season. It brought us salvation as Jesus set us free from the bondage of our sins. He paid our penalties in full, ransomed and redeemed us, sanctified and set us free!
In Jeremiah 29:11 God said, “For I know the plans I have for you” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and hope.” Almighty God, do not allow our rulers to destroy this beautiful nation and its inhabitants. Kindly bring to fulfillment, your Divine Plans for Nigeria and all of us for the sake of your Son, Jesus Christ who in obedience to you died for our sins. Amen!
Father, the hour has come! You who pulled down the walls of Jericho and leveled the Tower of Babel; you who led the Israelites out of Egypt and took them to the promised land, please grant us your Divine Intervention in Jesus’ Name! And we will praise you and tell generations yet unborn that you saved Nigeria from anarchy and doom.
Dear Risen Jesus, kindly bring us peace and unity for your glory and honor!
