Legionaries of St. Peter's Catholic Church along Iganmode Road, Ota, Ogun State Abeokuta Diocese, held a seminar for Singles and Married Couples on Sunday, August 31, 2025 in the Church premises.

The facilitator of the seminar was a parishioner, Mr. Ekpeyong Augustine.  He emphasized that the two major factors to look out for in a relationship before embarking on a marriage journey were shared values and emotional intelligence.  He also pointed out the need for lovers to develop genuine trust in their partners as the absence of it often leads to heartbreak and breakdown of relationships.  ‘Marriage is not man made, it was ordained by God; therefore, be wise like the serpent’ in choosing your partner to pave the way for an enduring relationship, Mr. Ekpeyong admonished the participants.

The seminar, which was attended by mainly youths of the Legion of Mary generated questions centered on premarital sex and low and high libido and the difficulty youths face in the course of avoiding fornication. The Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Clement Ajibola Ashade explained to the youths that the Church does not encourage premarital sex and assured them that they can abstain from it until they have the license to sleep together. He narrated the marriage story of Rachael to Jacob in the Bible to buttress his point and assured the youths that they, too, can be like Rachael and Jacob who fell in love and had to wait for fourteen years before consummating their marriage!
