
SACRED HEART SOCIETY ELECTS NEW PRESIDENT GENERAL

Mr. Chukwumah Chisom of St. Peter's Catholic Church Ota, Ogun State Abeokuta Diocese has been elected the 9th President General of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and Immaculate Heart of Mary Society, Nigeria.
He was elected into the office on Saturday September 20, 2025 at an election conducted at the Daughters of Divine Love Parish, Lugbe, Abuja Archdiocese, Nigeria.
He took over the mantle of leadership from Emmanuel Agada of Abuja Archdiocese. Other elected officers include Haruna Eneh Vice President; General Secretary Bernadette Okonkwo Mary.
Mr. Chukwumah, is from Issele-Uku Diocese, Delta State but worships at St. Peter's Parish, Ota. He is 52 years old, married in 2007. He joined the society 16 years ago. He said the exemplary life of Sir Prince Dominic Ogundipe of St. Peter's Parish Ota motivated him to join the Sacred Hearts Society. He also thanked his parents who brought him up the Catholic way, without which he probably wouldn't have known about the Sacred Hearts Society.
The National Spiritual Director of the Society Very Rev. Fr. Julius Akosu, Assistant National Spiritual Director 1, Very Rev Fr. Lawrence Bakut and the Assistant National Spiritual Director 2, Very Rev. Fr. Melvis Mayaki were at the election.
Mr. Chukwumah said his tenure of office is four years and that he hopes to tackle the issue of membership drive which has been a major challenge to the society.
