Make Mother Mary Your Model This Year..., says Fr Emmanuel Ajewole
Anthony BAMITEKO
Very. Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Ajewole, the parish priest of Christ the King Catholic Church, Odo-Ona, Apata Road, Ibadan, in his new year message at the parish encouraged the faithful to be obedient to God’s instructions to the letter this New Year.
Fr. Ajewole during New Year eve Mass said those that do the will of God, lack no blessing, that naturally, doing the will of God attracts God's blessing into one's life and that those that do the will of God don't worry about earthly things, nor panic unnecessarily.
Using Mother Mary as a case study, he said Mother Mary is a perfect example of obedience to God. That she demonstrated this when she received the message from the Angel, she received it, pondered and meditated upon it. She and her husband even gave the baby the name the Angel commanded them to give him. And when she was approached at the wedding in Cana, about the wine that got finished, she told the people that they should follow whatever instruction given to them by Jesus.
The parish priest admonished the congregation to do the will of God and not do things their own way this year. "Since you've been doing it your own way, what has been the result? Don't enter the New Year with anxiety. Don't look unto anyone to bless you. Jesus Christ is your blessing. For you to have that type of Cana wedding result, you must be obedient to God. Don't be spiritually lazy. Pray your rosary, fast and visit the Blessed Sacrament. The consequences of disobedience is severe. The prodigal son reaped the hash consequence of disobedience to the extent that he wished to eat pig's food."
"As we enter a new year, be like mother Mary. Emulate her ways with God. Submit yourself to the teaching of Jesus and allow God to shape your life. The key to the heart of God is in the hand of Jesus. Take your relationship very serious with Jesus this year, because if you belong to Jesus, you will have the power of Jesus. Live your life to know, love and serve God this year," Fr Emmanuel Ajewole concluded.
