2026 Laity Week Begins Soon

The Annual Laity Week is here again. The Catholic Laity Council of Nigeria (CLCN) has directed that the programme should take place in all the Archdioceses and Dioceses in Nigeria, from Sunday 15th March to Sunday 22nd March.
The theme is: “The Application of Catholic Social Teaching in Contemporary Nigeria".
All is now set in Ibadan Archdiocese for the annual event. The ceremony will be flagged off on Sunday 15th March, with an opening Mass at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Oke-Ado, Ibadan at 9:30am.
During the Mass, there will be presentation of trophies/prizes to the winners of the pre-laity week quiz competition.
Other activities of the laity week will continue on Monday 16th March with an interactive lecture on the theme: "The Application of Catholic Social Teaching in Contemporary Nigeria. The venue of the lecture is St. Jude Catholic Church, Iwo-Road, Ibadan at 4pm.
On Tuesday, 17th March, there will be an interactive session of Lay Faithful with their parish priests in all the parishes in the Archdioceses at 4:00pm. This interactive session aims to strengthen unity and collaboration between the Parish Priest and the Laity by reflecting on Catholic Social Teaching (CST). It will focus on:
Dignity – Upholding the dignity of every human person in parish life.
Duty – Understanding our shared responsibilities as clergy and laity in evangelization and service.
Dialogue – Promoting open communication, transparency, and mutual respect in parish administration and pastoral care.
The session encourages active participation, shared decision-making, and commitment to building a Christ-centered parish community rooted in justice, love, and service.
On Wednesday, 18th March - Stations of the Cross in all parishes by 5:00pm.
On Friday, 20th March - Visitation to the less privileged homes at 11:00am.
On Saturday, 21st March, there will be a medical outreach at deanery level.
The laity week will be rounded off on Sunday 22nd March with a Thanksgiving Mass and mini-harvest in all the parishes.
All Lay Faithful in the Archdiocese are hereby enjoined to participate actively in all the programmes of activities.
