HIS DIVINE MERCY REBUILDS BROKEN WALLS...Fr. Stephen Balogun
Catechist Michael OLAGOKE
The parish priest of St Anne Catholic Church, Ogbere has enjoined the faithful to be grateful to God always. He stated this in his homily with the theme "Let those who fear the Lord says his mercy endureth forever." He said God is not wicked like the earthly Kings who don't have mercy on their subjects. Our God is a merciful God full of compassion.
He explained further that anytime Divine Mercy is celebrated, we should not forget the person that started it who is St. Maria Faustina. He said that many people who failed Christ received mercy and were restored back. ”Peter denied Jesus three times, but Mercy of God located him. Thomas was doubtful of his being alive but when Christ visited him, he believed at once. Mary Magdalene received mercy from Christ Jesus.”
He asked all to call on God for mercy in whatever they are going through by encouraging all not to live their lives in regret but to move towards the mercy of God which is certain for their lives. He quoted the words of St. Pope John Paul "that there is nothing that man needs than the Divine Mercy of God".
“Even we may feel scattered but the Divine Mercy of God will rebuild our brokenness. Peace be with you that will normally say is an expression of love. Greetings of peace is a message of divine mercy to renew and restore us.”
He concluded his homily by encouraging all to put their trust in God that he will surely make way for them. That the youth should put more efforts on their passion and work it out diligently so as to make and generate money from them. The era of looking for white collar job is gone. Everyone should create job.
The parish priest’s birthday thanksgiving which falls on Divine mercy Sunday was with fun fare. The parish CWO, CCPR and vocation committee presented the parish priest with gifts.
