The 2026 edition of the Mojisola Ladipo Spelling Bee was successfully held as another remarkable milestone in promoting literacy, academic excellence, and healthy intellectual competition among young people in the Archdiocese.

The competition, aimed at improving spelling proficiency, vocabulary development, confidence, and public speaking skills, brought together brilliant Youths from different deaneries in a well-coordinated display of talent, preparation, and determination.

The journey to the grand finale began with preliminary rounds held across participating deaneries. A total of 111 contestants participated in the preliminary stages, where they were assessed based on spelling accuracy, speed, consistency, and composure under pressure. Following a rigorous merit-based selection process, 36 contestants emerged as finalists to represent their respective deaneries.

The grand finale, held on 1st May 2026 at St. Richard Parish, witnessed an exciting atmosphere as 35 finalists competed before an enthusiastic audience.

After several intense rounds, the competition produced outstanding winners:

1st Place: Oluwasola Moyinoluwa (Ikire Deanery, Our Lady of Fatima School, Iwo)

2nd Place: Nwobodo Maximilian (Oluyole Deanery, Christ the King Parish, Odo-Ona)

3rd Place: Terfa-Salun James (Bodija Deanery, St. Gregory Parish, Moniya)

A major highlight of the event was the generous support of Chief Dr. Mojisola Olusola Ladipo, who awarded an additional ₦50,000 to each of the winners, further demonstrating her commitment to youth and academic excellence.

The competition recorded notable achievements, including increased student participation, stronger inter-deanery collaboration, and renewed enthusiasm for academic engagement among young people.

The Organizing Committee expressed profound appreciation to all sponsors, Archdiocesan executives, Chaplains, Coordinators, Committee members, and participating youths whose dedication and sacrifices ensured the successful execution of the programme.

Special recognition was also given to ‘Toke Tile Yooba’ for presenting gifts to the winning contestants, and to Mrs. Edith Omokhuwa Isidahomen for her generous support to one of the outstanding participants.

The 2026 Mojisola Ladipo Spelling Bee stands as a testament to teamwork, commitment, and the Archdiocese’s continuous investment in raising academically sound, confident, and future-ready young leaders.
