CBM in Partnership with Oyo State Ministry of Health, Eleta Eye Institute Launches SightQuest Eye Care Initiative in Ibadan

In a significant step towards improving eye health and preventing avoidable blindness, the CBM (Christian Blind Mission) in partnership with Oyo State Ministry of Health, Eleta Eye Institute, Helpmesee officially launched a comprehensive eye care initiative at the Signature Tower Hotel, Jericho, Ibadan, on Tuesday, June 9, 2026.

 

The event attracted a distinguished gathering of government officials, healthcare professionals, religious leaders, international delegates, and stakeholders committed to advancing quality eye care services. Among those in attendance were the Archbishop Emeritus of Ibadan, Most Rev. Felix Alaba-Job; His Grace, Archbishop Gabriel 'Leke Abegunrin, the Chief Executive Officer of Eleta Eye Institute, representatives of the Oyo State Government, and delegates from Dubai, alongside other notable guests from within and outside Nigeria.

In his remarks, the Honourable Commissioner for Health underscored the Oyo State Government’s commitment to improving healthcare infrastructure and supporting initiatives that reduce avoidable blindness.

 

 

The launch underscored the growing importance of collaborative efforts in addressing eye health challenges and promoting access to quality vision care for all. Speakers at the event highlighted the need for increased awareness, early detection of eye conditions, regular eye examinations, and timely interventions to prevent visual impairment and blindness.

 

Addressing participants, stakeholders emphasized that good eyesight is essential to quality of life, productivity, education, and overall well-being. They noted that many eye-related conditions can be prevented or effectively managed when detected early, making public awareness and access to professional eye care services critical.

 

The partnership between the CBM, Oyo State Ministry of Health and Eleta Eye Institute is expected to strengthen eye health services across the state while promoting preventive measures that will help individuals maintain healthy vision well into old age.
